A Day in the life of a Hanging Gardens of Bali Guest

“Hey HG team,
I want to thank the whole team that makes the Hanging Gardens of Bali world go round. Wow, it was an exceptional experience and I would love to write a review for you, but due to my work, as you know, I cannot post publicly, but I want to do the next best thing. So I’m writing this email so that you can share my words however you’d like on any platform you like, just make sure to keep it anonymous, as I know you will - that is definitely one thing to mention, y’all really know how to prioritize privacy, absolutely one of the main reasons why I initially booked with y’all, but after the stay, there is just far more to talk about, so here it goes:
The Villa: Private Paradise
The villa was insane! Y’all, it has such a calm but luxurious vibe. The bed - so comfy, the shower - strong pressure, godly! The infinity pool was warm with the view of the jungle and the gentle sounds of the Ayung river below - S.T.U.N.N.I.N.G. Gotta say, the pictures just don’t do it justice. Like.. yes the photos are amazing, but when you’re really in it, it’s another level. The environment and the care of the staff just elevates your whole experience to another level. The villa was super private, no one could see me from any angle, and I couldn’t see anyone else from any angle either, just perfect, especially to get that no-tanline tan! Oh.. and when I say I had the best, deepest, calmest sleep I’ve had in years.. IN YEARS!! Whenever I have a sleepless night now, I just think about the bed at Hanging Gardens of Bali now. It’s forever my dream mattress. Also, if you have fabric allergies or just preferences, they have so many options to choose from if you want to, but for me I was good as is. Oh, and they had these welcome chocolates and a personalized letter from the GM, gosh you really feel like royalty the moment you step into this resort. Honestly, I could have stayed in the villa the whole time, but I couldn’t miss out on everything else the hotel offered, I mean come on, they had an award winning spa, and pool, and dinner to experience, I couldn’t just not ya’know.
I managed to catch sunset by their two-tiered infinity pool, and girl.. The colors of the sky changed in a way it just doesn’t back home, and the panoramic view of the jungle from eye level down makes you feel like a god standing there above everything, especially with this view. Next time I’ll be coming with my S.O. so I can take all the photos, because just YES.
Dining & Entertainment
I booked a table at the bar lounge for dinner, and they had this traditional balinese dance with their cultural setting, flower display, this dance called barong dance, with the gamelan players, which is basically like a balinese instrument orchestra type thing, j’adore, and such a unique sound. The dancers were stunning and it’s just so unique to watch! Paired this experience with the most delish dinner, absolutely yes love, absolutely yes! They have this premium menu, which was all about A5 wagyus, caviar, foie gras, salmon carpaccios, lobster.. I mean think luxury meals and they got it! But the way they elevated the flavors, presented the food and the way I was served the whole time.. I don’t know why it’s not a michelin star restaurant at this point. Hanging Gardens of Bali should definitely be a michelin star restaurant, I don’t know how that process works, but they should 100% be one. Anyway, I got the steak tartare and the wagyu sirloin (yes I know my cholesterol but let me live a little!), and when I tell you it literally beats anything I’ve had in Vegas, anything I’ve had in LA, anything I’ve had in London, anything I’ve had in Milan, just wow. And the dessert.. Get the lava cake. Just.. no questions, just get it. My belly was full, my body was relaxed, my mind was entertained. Love it. Grand. Brilliant. Transcendent. Quite amazing and so so friendly! Everything is amazing here.
In the morning, I had such a calm and lovely start to the day. Waking up to the jungle views, it’s surreal how this is part of the world we live in - to experience such a level of paradise is immeasurable to even describe. The breakfast was a level up from the bar lounge, and it gives a different view of the panoramic view of the jungle and their award winning infinity pool. Not going to lie, and not trying to be cheesy, but the view really does take your breath away.. Because it’s just not something you can imagine, and no photo can do it justice. You’ll never understand the volume of beauty you can actually experience until you actually come here, see this, and experience it for yourself. Honestly, whenever I had a bad day, I just close my eyes and bring myself back to this space. The view is like nothing else, and you’re fully immersed into it. Just think heaven, like those greek gods that get the view of paradise, but living it for real. Because the views are godly and you basically get treated like a god here. The staff here are just another level of kindness. And they remember everything, they all knew my name without me even telling them, they always remembered my preferences, both in food and what I like in the room. They were perceptive with my needs, they recommended things based on what I’ve previously ordered. Anyway, their breakfast was just lovely, they have light options and more filling options, honestly just tell your waiter/waitress what you’re in the mood for and they’ll probably have it. So fresh, oh wait and the pastries! Croissants like in Paris, no joke! So buttery and fluffy! Goes so well with their homemade strawberry jam.
Spa & Relaxation
So I had to have a spa session.. Obviously. Cannot just not.. It’s an award winning spa, they even have a full day spa retreat that I was SO tempted to do, I just didn’t know if my body could handle that much relaxation! Aha, so serious, oh my gosh. Anyway, I did the 90 minute balinese massage, and girl.. When I tell you I’ve never been so relaxed.. Like being relaxed inside being relaxed inside being relaxed, it was relax-ception in here! The pressure of the massage was hitting spa goals I didn’t know I had, and the traditional balinese massage itself is so unique, and definitely one for the books. You cannot come here without experiencing this. I did pair this massage with a half an hour facial afterwards.. Girl.. it was so calming. The different textures and temperatures was lovely, plus they used all natural ingredients, some that they even grow on their own property. So cool, loved that. Knowing there’s no chemicals being put on my face was the reason I just had to the facial onto the massage, so good, and i felt so rejuvenated afterwards. Honestly all I could do after was go back to my villa and relax on the sunbed after that, I was like jelly, I just needed more time to be jelly after that aha! Oh and I forgot to mention, before the massage, they gave me this welcome to the spa drink called rosella, and I’ve never had anything like it, so tasty! Oh and you get to choose your own fragrance of oil for the massage, loved that touch, I chose frangipani, delicious smell!
Why I’m 100% Coming Back!
My stay at Hanging Gardens of Bali was only two nights, and that was just not enough. I thought it would be, usually in a secluded environment like this there’s not much to do, so a short stay seems adequate, but not this hotel. This is a luxury resort like no other, and I didn’t have enough days to experience everything they had to offer! My next trip here, which of course, is inevitable will one hundred percent be at least 5 nights. I want to experience the floating breakfast, the private dinner at the temple that you can see opposite the hotel (it’s on the hill facing the hotel, so pretty!). They have this exclusive to Hanging Gardens of Bali floating dinner on their infinity pool, I want to surprise my S.O. with that next time, will be incredible! I want to cycle around the surrounding rice fields, I want to hike up to that temple (basically you go down the entire resort, walk down to the Ayung river, cross it and walk all the way up to the temple), wanted to do that one, and I know my S.O. would want to do a lots of photoshoots everywhere, everywhere is stunning here! Oh, and the full day spa retreat, hundred percent will do that one next time. Oh and order the rest of the menu too! Ah , just yes!
Some other things to mention: They have this cute boutique store, has lots of local-made luxury items like dresses, jewellery, things like that. Also hotel merch, balinese sculptures and an art gallery in the back if you can believe it. I actually bought one painting, and their engineer carefully unframed it so I could just roll it up and put it in my suitcase. I’m actually getting it reframed here in two days, can’t wait to hang it up in our living room! Mmm what else? Oh yeah, temperature was so good, wasn’t obscenely hot like the south of Bali, was a nice warm temperature, not humid, perfect for tanning.
All in all, completely j’adore, j’adore, j’adore the whole experience! Nothing like it. And I hope this review brings absolutely everyone here, because EVERYONE needs to experience this. You cannot just live life without having this experience ticked off your bucket list.
Thank you thank you again to your wonderful hospitality HG team,
Lots of love! xox
